1. Data We Collect
Selgorithm Convert Sentinel processes all files exclusively on your local device. The application does not transmit any personal data or file content to any server over the internet.
Information stored locally:
- Application preferences (language, touch mode, theme) — stored in
settings.json - Conversion history: the last 10 filenames, source and target formats, and timestamps — stored in
recent.json - Converted output files saved to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\SelgorithmConvert\output\
The content of your files is never stored in the application's own data files — only filenames and format metadata are recorded in the history.
2. Data Sharing
No personal data or file content is shared with, sold to, or transmitted to third parties. Your files never leave your device.
3. Internet Access
The application does not establish any network connections during use. All conversion processing happens locally on your device. A one-time download from Microsoft Store is required for installation. License verification for paid tiers (Orbit, Akasha) is performed exclusively through the Microsoft Store infrastructure, subject to Microsoft's privacy policy.
4. Data Security
All application data is stored in the %LOCALAPPDATA%\SelgorithmConvert\ folder on your Windows device, protected by operating system access controls. No passwords or sensitive personal information are collected or stored by the application.
5. Backup & Deletion
You have complete control over your data. The application folder is located at %LOCALAPPDATA%\SelgorithmConvert\. You can delete output files, clear conversion history within the app, or remove the entire folder to delete all application data.
6. Children's Privacy
Selgorithm Convert Sentinel is a utility application not intended for use by children under the age of 13.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.

Why does this happen?
The dropped or selected file has an extension or content type not in the supported format list.
Resolution
Check the supported formats list in the app. Supported categories: image, video, audio, document, font, archive.

HTTP 400
File is corrupted or unreadable.
Cause & Resolution
Why does this happen?
The file structure does not match the expected format — the file may be partially written, truncated, or damaged.
Resolution
Try obtaining a fresh copy of the file. If the file was downloaded, re-download it.
SLGT-CV-FILE-003
HTTP 404
File not found.
Cause & Resolution
Why does this happen?
The file path provided to the converter no longer exists — the file may have been moved, renamed, or deleted.
Resolution
Locate the file and drag it into the app again.

File is empty (0 bytes).

The selected file has no content — it is a zero-byte file that cannot be processed.

Select a valid file with actual content.

Why does this happen?
A read permission error or I/O failure occurred when accessing the file.
Resolution
Check that you have read permission for the file. Try copying it to your Desktop first.

Why does this happen?
An unexpected error occurred in the conversion engine. The file may be malformed or use an unsupported codec variant.
Resolution
Try a different output format. If the issue persists, check if the source file opens correctly in another application.

HTTP 200
Quality loss warning: lossless → lossy conversion.
Cause & Resolution
Why does this happen?
The source format stores data without quality loss, but the target format is lossy — some quality will be permanently lost.
Resolution
This is expected behaviour. Accept the warning to proceed, or choose a lossless target format.

Source and target are the same format.

Why does this happen?
The conversion would produce an identical file — source and target format are the same.
Resolution
Select a different target format.
SLGT-CV-CONV-004
HTTP 500
FFmpeg executable not found.
Cause & Resolution
Why does this happen?
The bundled FFmpeg binary is missing from the application folder — the installation may be incomplete or files were manually deleted.
Resolution
Reinstall the application from Microsoft Store to restore the missing files.
SLGT-CV-CONV-005
HTTP 500
FFmpeg returned a non-zero exit code.
Cause & Resolution
Why does this happen?
The FFmpeg process exited with an error. Common causes: unsupported codec, corrupted source, or insufficient system resources during encoding.
Resolution
Try converting to a different format. Ensure you have at least 500 MB of free RAM and sufficient disk space.

Conversion cancelled by user.
Cause & Resolution
Why does this happen?
The user pressed the Cancel button during an active conversion.
Resolution
No action needed. The partially written output file has been removed.
SLGT-CV-CONV-007
HTTP 500
Output file could not be written.
Cause & Resolution
Why does this happen?
The output folder is not writable or disk space ran out during the conversion.
Resolution
Check that %LOCALAPPDATA%\SelgorithmConvert\output\ is accessible and that you have free disk space.
SLGT-CV-CONV-008
HTTP 400
This source → target format pair is not supported.
Cause & Resolution
Why does this happen?
The Sentinel Quality Gate has blocked this combination: dead codec, lossy-to-lossy chain, alias format, or SEO padding.
Resolution
Open the Quality Gate panel in the app to see why this pair is blocked and find an alternative path.

HTTP 500
Required library not available.
Cause & Resolution
Why does this happen?
A conversion engine dependency (Pillow, pypdfium2, fonttools, etc.) is missing from the application bundle.
Resolution
Reinstall the application from Microsoft Store.

Why does this happen?
The available disk space is below the estimated space needed for the conversion output.
Resolution

Low RAM warning — performance may suffer.

Why does this happen?
Available system RAM is below 500 MB. Large file conversions may be slow or fail.

Cause & Resolution
Why does this happen?
The video file duration exceeds 30 minutes. Processing will take considerable time.
Resolution
This is informational. The conversion will proceed; do not close the app until it completes.
